Leamington is not actually our home town, but rather a place that has adopted both of us as part of a north/south compromise. But we have been here for 6 years now and the Beast has grown up here, so we couldn’t possibly pull him away from all his friends. What’s more it is a place where ideas about food can grow and, hopefully, one day flourish. It’s early days yet, so instead we pass the time wandering through Leamington, considering where the Beast might fit in, and what menu that location would require.

Occasionally, when the town has a mind for it, it gives us a reminder that you need a little bit of strangeness for every day life to work properly. Hence our discovery of what appeared to be a home made space station in a front garden just down the road.

It turns out it is an art installation for the jubilee weekend by one Helena Godwin, a sculptor who wanted to create light and beauty in an otherwise rather glum space. This has absolutely been achieved, but I think I liked it better when I thought she was trying to contact outer space.

Happy long Bank holiday weekend, and wouldn’t it be nice if the Queen hit 60 years on the throne more often.
